Defragmenting hard disks but not SSDs!

Bei einer herkömmlichen Festplatte, mit drehenden Scheiben und einem Lesekopf, macht es durchaus Sinn ab und zu eine Defragmentierung durchzuführen. Dort führen die Löschung oder Verschiebung von Dateien dazu das Lücken entstehen und neu gespeicherte Dateien unter Umständen auf die vorhanden leeren Stellen verteilt werden. Dadurch muss der Lesekopf natürlich viel öfter seine Position ändern um eine Datei vollständig lesen zu können. Um das zu verhindern gibt es die Möglichkeit zu defragmentieren. Doch macht das denn auch bei den neueren SSD-Festplatten und Speicherkarten Sinn?

Therefore the reading head has the change his postion much more until he read a file completely. This costs more time. To prevent this there is the possibility to defragment. But does it make sense with the newer SSD hard drives and memory cards?

Defragmentierung XP

Nein, denn diese Speichermedien haben keine Lese-/Schreibköpfe und daher auch nicht das Problem das diese Vorgänge durch eine Defragmentierung schneller werden würden. Es wäre sogar von Nachteil SSD's und Speicherkarten zu defragmentieren, da bei diesem Vorgang Dateiteile an einer Stelle gelöscht un an einer anderen geschrieben werden. Genau diese Löschvorgänge reduzieren die Lebenszeit der Speicher und sind somit sogar schädlich.
No, because these storage devices have no read / write heads and therefore do not have the problem that these operations would be faster by defragmentation. It even be disadvantageous to defragment SSD's and memory cards, because this operation clears parts of a file in one place and be written on another. Exactly these deletions and rewwritings reduce the lifetime of the memory and are harmful to this kind of data storage.

Durch die andere Art und Weise wie auf die Speicher zugegriffen wird würde sich durch eine Defragmentierung auch die Geschwindigkeit nicht erhöhen.

Caused by another way these kind of storages are working a defragmantation would also not increase the speed.

Also sollten Sie es vermeiden Speichermedien wie USB-Sticks, SD-Karten oder SSD'-Festplatten zu defragmentieren.
So you should avoid to derfragment SSD drives, USB-sticks, SD-cards.
